Asleep and Old

This dog looks exactly like my very first pet-Cookie, bull pit terrier with a smidge of cattle dog.

He would walk me to the bus stop every morning and then chase the bus until he ran out of puff. He’d always be there to greet me when I got home from school.

I never knew what he did with his day…it wouldnt suprise me if he sat there all day waiting.

I was ironing my school uniform one afternoon and heard a weird noise…went to check and found poor Cookie whrithing in pain. Brown snake got him. My next door neighbour put him out of his pain with a gun.

I loved that dog like no other, it still hurts, that was 20 years ago and I’ll never forget it.
